This first website is one that I created about 2 years ago for a client.
The most important thing to note about this first lawn care website example is that it’s relatively simple. Even with it’s simple design & layout, It’s generating countless leads for our client and is helping him get found on Google. From the beginning of the year until now in the beginning of July, this website has processed 62 leads that stated they found him directly from Google. This is in a small town of around 15,000 as well, not a massive metro area with tens of thousands of people looking for a lawn care or landscaping company every year.
That goes to show that doing the little things right can have a massive impact.
So what is this website doing right that helps it perform so well?
1. Clear Call-To-Action. When someone lands on this website looking for lawn care or landscaping services, it’s very clear what the website wants the user to do. They want them to fill out the form on screen to request a free quote. A lot of the time, people don’t even scroll past the top part of your website, so make sure that you have a super clear call to action visible without scrolling down. It’s also very important to have a clickable phone number at the top of the mobile version of your website.
2. Keyword Placement. Putting the right words at the right place on your website helps increase the likelihood of people finding you when searching Google. Search engines like Google scan your website to learn what your website is about. Certain parts of your website like your page title, meta description, and content headlines are extra important in the eyes of Google. If you want people to find your company when someone searches for “Lawn Care in Your Town,” then be sure to include the words “Lawn Care” combined with the name of your town in all of the important sections.
3. Simplicity. In competitive markets you have to do a lot to stand out and compete, especially for that top spot on Google. However, in smaller towns, sometimes it’s best to just keep it simple and do all of the little things right. This website doesn’t have a bunch of confusing content of pages that distract visitors from the end goal of request a quote. It’s simple, straight to the point, and generates leads.

This was the very first person I built a website for over 2 years ago. We just recently redesigned it to make it perform even better.
This second lawn care website example is a little bit more complex when it comes to the design, but still a relatively simple 5-page website layout. It has has the same features that are vital if you want to generate leads with your website.
1. Clear Call-To-Action. This website doesn’t have the lead form directly displayed on the home page, but it doesn’t have to be that way. You can have a button that links to a form popup, or in this case another page that is associated with a 3rd-party application.
2. Keyword Placement. Once again, this website uses great keyword targeting by putting the right words in the right place. The words “Aurora, Colorado Lawn Care” are used in the H1 heading, the page title, H2 sub headlines, and the actual content itself. With Aurora, Colorado being more competitive, this alone doesn’t help get this website to the top of Google. However, this keyword placement combined with his Google Business Profile being set up and managed properly does help No Mow Worries show up in the Google Map Pack.
3. Social Proof. When people land on a website and see that 42 other people have left an average of a 4.8 star rating, they’re able to tell two things. The first is that other people have hired this company for services. This is important because people are more likely to engage in an action if other people are already doing it. It feels safer to follow the crowd. The second thing is that this is a quality company. Having 4.8 stars shows that not only are people hiring this company, but they are also happy enough to leave a review.
4. Portfolio. With the lawn care and landscaping industry revolving around visual aesthetics, it’s important to showcase pictures of your work on your website. A portfolio page is important to have, but it’s even better if you showcase a part of your portfolio on your home page as well. Just know that most people aren’t going to click past the first page that they land on, so make sure you show off your work.
5. Frequently Asked Questions. An FAQ section can save you a lot of time by weeding out people that may not be a fit. Use this section to answer those simple questions that you always get asked on the phone, to either qualify or disqualify prospects from working with you.
6. Outline The Process. This is another section that can be kept relatively simple, but provides valuable information to people visiting your website when looking for lawn care or landscaping services. Show them exactly what they can expect from the time that they fill out your form or call you until the completion of your services.

This last website is one of the bigger projects that our team has worked on and includes 50+ individual pages. There is a time an place for a website of this magnitude, but for most company 5-15 pages will do. However, there are a few valuable lessons that you can take from this website as well.
Now obviously this lawn care website example has all of the important features that I mentioned previously, so I won’t bore you with all of that again, but there are a few new things that this website has that the previous ones don’t.
1. City Pages. Previously in this article I mentioned multiple times the importance of keyword placement. One thing that I haven’t mentioned yet is that each page on your website can only realistically target one keyword and its close variations. Because of this, you may want to create additional pages on your website targeting additional keywords such as neighboring towns. Going through and creating a page for each town that you service significantly increases the chances of you showing up on Google when people search for your services in that town. Additionally, you want to make sure that you put a service area section at the bottom of your website’s home page and link all of the city pages to the proper city name to further enhance your website’s search engine optimization.
2. Service Pages. After you have created pages for all of the towns that you service, you can also create pages for all of the services that you provide. Once again, this enables you to target even more search phrases that people may be entering on Google. For Example, you can create pages targeting phrases like, “Indianapolis Lawn Care”, “Indianapolis Mulch Installation”, and “Indianapolis Patio Builder.”
There are endless different ways that you can choose to design your website, however, if you want your lawn care website to perform like these 3 examples in getting you new leads and new clients, be sure to include these features on your website.
With that being said, if you don’t have the desire to build a website yourself or just don’t have the time to do so, me and my team and Landscape Legends will be happy to help. Click the button below to schedule an intro call to learn just how we can help.
